Do you have an active dog? During the warmer weather months we get concerned with our dogs overheating and worry about heat exhaustion/heat stroke. Dogs do not have the ability to sweat like we humans, so instead they pant and “sweat” through their paws. This is not a very efficient way to cool down.
Enter the Ruffwear Swamp Cooler. This article of canine gear is ingenious. It is essentially a “sweat vest” for dogs. You get it wet, put it on your dog, and the evaporation of the water in the vest keeps the vest cool and, thus, is like a “cool pack” on your dog.
I have been a fan of Ruffwear products for over 10 years. They make awesome gear for the active human/dog pair, from collars and leashes to hydration packs and, now, cooling vests! I can now take CJ on runs with me without worrying about him getting overheated! Don’t get me wrong, I’m still selective about the conditions I’ll allow him to join me. If it’s overly humid, or wretched hot, he’s not going to come with me because, well, it’s not worth the risk. But there have been so many times that I wouldn’t take him with me when it’s just 75 degrees because he (at 9 years of age especially) could easily become overheated.

The fact that it works very well should be enough. But it also is easy to clean and is pretty heavy-duty. As you can see from the triple-image, CJ is not exactly gentle while his swamp cooler is on! He likes to roll in the grass, mud, whatever is available. The Swamp Cooler launders easily in the washing machine! Worth every penny.
